Leadership Updates EC
2 Minute Read

Firstly, thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome since joining Monadelphous in May. I can’t believe that six months have passed already, and as a result of all your hard work, there’s lots happening and we have some exciting projects underway in the portfolio.

Our new construction contracts in the mining sector include:

BHP's Orebody 32, a multidisciplinary construction contract in Newman, Western Australia for dewatering of surplus water. Site is progressing very well and ahead of schedule and we have now cleared a majority of the 12km corridor ready for trenching  in the New Year. We have started polywelding the pipe and plan to have this largely welded and strung before Christmas ready for the micro-tunnelling to mobilise in January.

Our work on BHP’s Car Dumper 3 project in Port Hedland continues steadily. The team recently completed a successful shut, safely and ahead of schedule. It’s also been great to see Melchor onsite and watch the integrated team work so well together.  I’m pleased to report we’ve had ongoing positive customer feedback and our strong safety performance continues.  This will put us in a great position for future car dumper projects.

Work continues on a design and construct contract at the Rio Tinto port operation in the Pilbara, WA, delivered by Mondium, our engineering, procurement and construction joint venture. Design is being completed by the JV partner Lycopodium and Melchor have recently mobilised to site to facilitate earthworks, piling of a retaining wall and building a seawall in readiness for the broader construction to commence next year. It’s great to see that we have mobilised our ‘Plug and Play’ offices and crib rooms, for which we received positive feedback from the client regarding the excellent innovation.

Our Inteforge team also recently won two contracts to supply structural steelwork and modularised pipe rack packages for Iluka Resources’ state-of-the-art Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery Project in Western Australia.

We are also working on supplying the fabricated steelwork for a vertically integrated Monadelphous construction project at BHP’s Prominent Hill Expansion Project.

These projects currently in detail, along with a growing portfolio of skid fabrication works, places Inteforge in a strong position for next year. I recently joined our Inteforge teams in China and Vietnam and have enjoyed becoming familiar with the work we have been doing there.

I am pleased and privileged to be working with such dedicated and competent people across Monadelphous, Inteforge and Mondium, who share such a positive common culture.

As we head towards Christmas, please stay focused and take the time to plan your work and assess the risks. As always, safety remains our top priority.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment this year, and I am very much looking forward to spending time around the project sites next year to meet more of the team personally.
