Welcome to our latest edition of Around the Sites. As we enter a new financial year, it's great to see the hard work happening across our projects continuing to create opportunities for the future.
I’m excited to share our latest news with the announcement of the award of the Port Debottlenecking Project 2 (PDP2) contract for BHP at Nelson Point in Port Hedland. This is a significant achievement for our team and another important step in our growing portfolio of car dumper work across the Pilbara.
This award reflects the extensive experience we've built over decades delivering car dumper infrastructure throughout the Pilbara, most recently with the CD3 and CD4 Projects, and is a great reflection of the capability, commitment and reputation our people continue to build with our customers. I'd like to acknowledge the wider team for the tremendous effort that went into securing this opportunity. As a new build rather than a refurbishment, the project offers a fresh and exciting set of challenges and opportunities, and we look forward to getting underway soon.
As always, there’s been plenty happening across our projects, with teams continuing to deliver some great outcomes for our customers.
In Port Hedland, the CD4 team continues to make strong progress ahead of the major shutdown later this year. The minor shutdowns have now been completed, Rubino is back in the air and undertaking pre-shut activities ahead of the Cell change out in October. A big thank you to everyone involved for the work being done now to set the project up for a safe and successful execution.
At Jimblebar, the TLO Project continues to make strong progress, driven by great collaboration across our EC, Melchor and Inteforge teams. Fabrication is advancing well, with the bins and Smart Module currently under construction in China and the first shipment of conveyor modules already arrived in Australia. The SMP team have mobilised and already have many of these modules installed and the first portion of the conveyor largely in position, showcasing the benefit of vertical integration. The first lift on the vault was recently completed with a huge effort from the Melchor team pouring the floor and lower walls.
It’s been a particularly successful and busy period for Inteforge, with major project deliveries, industry-leading certification achievements and strong collaboration across our operations.
There was a real sense of pride across the Inteforge team following their successful achievement of AS/NZS 5131 Construction Category III certification, with zero non-conformances. Most impressively, Inteforge is the first company in Mainland China to achieve this level of certification, reflecting the team's commitment to quality, compliance and doing things the right way. Congratulations to everyone involved.
I always enjoy the opportunity to visit our teams in China and share these experiences with colleagues from across the business. Over the past few months, I’ve travelled across for our annual production meeting, which brought together employees, customers and suppliers to strengthen relationships and discuss future opportunities. I was delighted to return this month to celebrate the completion and energisation of the Smart Module for the BHP TLO Project ahead of its imminent shipment to Australia. This was a fantastic achievement for the Inteforge team and a great example of the planning, innovation and fabrication expertise that continues to support our projects across the business by significantly reducing site hours through modularisation. We also recently completed the final shipment for the Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery pipe rack package from Vietnam, marking the completion of a significant scope of work and a great achievement for everyone involved.
Among all the activity, it's important to recognise the moments that speak directly to our culture. Our Tinny Time awards highlight the importance of this, with Tom Murphy from the CD4 Project recognised as our EC divisional winner for May. Tom's willingness to get involved, support his teammates and consistently bring a positive attitude to the job is a great example of the inclusive, respectful team culture we all play a role in creating. Well done Tom!
One of the things I’m most proud of at Monadelphous is seeing people grow their careers with us. As we continue to secure new work and create new opportunities, the strength of our business will always come back to the quality of our people. I’m pleased to share the following recent promotions across our business: Wouter Van Der Hoek has been promoted to Contracts Manager, Bradley Pell has been promoted to Senior Project Engineer, and Stacey Green has been promoted to Contracts Lead. These appointments reflect the contribution each of these individuals has made to the business and the exciting opportunities ahead for our EC Projects teams.
I was also pleased to see Engineering students out on our sites as part of the Monadelphous Winter Internship program. Giving young professionals exposure to our projects and teams is a great way to support our early careers talent, helping them build confidence, capability and valuable industry experience. A big thank you to everyone who hosted and supported the students during their placements, and I very much look forward to seeing some return post-graduation.
