Welcome again to our March Newsletter, we would like to start by thanking everyone for a month in which we have continued our positive safety performance, executing our works productively across our portfolio and handed over systems on projects with minimum or no punch list items, demonstrating our focus on quality. 

We have also seen good participation in recognising each other on our projects through the Tinny Time program, which is an important way to show thanks, appreciation and celebrate the moments our teammates go out of their way to keep us all safe. We encourage everyone to continue recognising the good behaviours and the efforts of our teammates through the Tinny Time program. 

Our projects are progressing well:  

  • Iron Bridge wet plant and pipeline for Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) – works are progressing well across all scopes as we close in on our first ore dates. The structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) scope is over 90% complete and predominately into completion stage with construction verifications. The pipeline and the canning pump station are also closing in on completion, a big thank you to the team for supporting FMG, working with incumbents – it’s a true demonstration of how flexible and reliable our people are.
  • Mines Services Area (MSA) project for Talison Lithium – Our safety performance has remained strong at MSA, even as we’ve mobilised a number of people; and the project itself as a result is making solid progress reporting approximately 50% complete. We are on target for the HME workshop handover in May. 
  • Car Dumper 3 (CD3) Replacement Project for BHP – mobilisation has commenced on the project with work focussed on planning for imminent shutdowns, and procurement. This is a significant win for Monadelphous as it hopefully sets us up well for a future program of works in Port Hedland over the next decade.

Tendering efforts remain high with us expecting advice from our customers on a number of opportunities that we can hopefully share with you in the coming weeks. While we have commenced demobilisation at Iron Bridge our Recruitment team have been on site discussing opportunities within the business and discussing availability of resources to support a number of shutdowns we have planned for May, June, July and August. We have several shutdowns in the maintenance and EC space we are actively allocating people to in between our major projects. We would recommend if you would like a break and you are coming off Iron Bridge, now is the time before things pick up significantly – it’s going to be a big year and we want you to continue working with us. If you have any concerns about placement for future works, please speak to your Supervisor.   

Continuing to grow our talent pipeline and retain our talent is a key focus in the people space. We recently wrapped up our Vacation Program, a big thank you to the students and everyone who supported the team and the success of the program, we hope to see the team back on the Graduate Program in coming years.  

One of our students, Hannah who worked with us at MSA came about Monadelphous thanks to our sponsorship with the UWA Girls in Engineering program. Recently Hannah had a chance to encourage school kids in the south west of WA to take up STEM skills when she presented on career options to local school children – who we also hope to see her in the future wearing the big red M! Finally, we’ll be volunteering again with the Perth Homeless Support Group on Sunday, 23 April. It’s two hours of your time on a Sunday to help hand out necessities for people experiencing homelessness in Perth. Register here.
