A critical scope of work requires a team that you can rely on for quality work, and the recent contract win for BHP’s Car Dumper 3 (CD3) Replacement project is an example of just that for the Monadelphous team.
The $115 million contract includes the delivery of structural, mechanical and piping works associated with the CD3 project, which has commenced with the first phase of mobilisations to the project site at Nelson Point, Port Hedland; with the work expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.
General Manager EC Projects, Paul Fishlock commented on the significance of the project and what it means for the business.
“The CD3 replacement project is a key contract win, it’s a significant project which is important for us to deliver on our promises and continue to foster our long-standing relationship with BHP in Port Hedland to set us up for future programs of works over the next decade in the town which has the potential to become a hub of work for us,” he said.
The project will peak at more than 500 people towards August 2024 in line with the major change out shutdown. CD3 is a critical piece of equipment used for unloading iron ore from trains at BHP’s Nelson Point facility in Port Hedland. The existing machine, which has been operating for many years, now needs replacement to ensure the continued efficient operation of BHP’s iron ore handling facilities.
The contract award is a testament to the team’s expertise with a long history of successful projects in the Pilbara, we are well positioned to deliver the project safely and successfully.
We look forward to sharing more updates as the project progresses!
