Celebrating our people with Tinny Time

We know positive safety moments are happening every day on our projects and Tinny Time nominations are the perfect way to recognise our people doing the right thing.

In this edition of Around the Sites we celebrate some of our divisional winners from the first quarter of this year. It’s great to see people from across our projects doing great things and taking the time to recognise each other by nominating each other for the Tinny Time award.

JANUARY WINNER

Eric Humbles

From the Greenbushes Mine Services Areas (MSA) project

Eric is always willing to lend a hand and approaches every task with a positive attitude. His willingness to share his extensive knowledge and experience with others, especially when mentoring dogman and riggers new to site and the industry, has been invaluable.

FEBRUARY WINNER

Nicholas Yap

From the FMG Iron Bridge Magnetite project

Nick used his stop work authority, recognising the potential for stored energy in a panel. He then requested assistance in proving zero voltage or the dissipation of stored energy before starting work. A testament to the application of his training and safe working culture.

Sapphire Bengiler

From the FMG Iron Bridge Magnetite project

Sapphire consistently participates in pre-starts, identifies hazards and helps find solutions. Her commitment to promoting safety and supporting her colleagues is outstanding. As an apprentice boilermaker, Sapphire consistently demonstrates exceptional quality and attention to detail.

Take some Tinny Time and nominate your teammates who you believe should be recognised for their contribution by advising your supervisor during shift debrief or during re-focus sessions.

Tinny Time moments include things such as:

1. Helping Out – this includes giving a hand to a workmate, e.g. stopping and assisting a truck as a spotter, which needs to reverse into a tight area.
2. Checking In – asking a workmate R U OK? If you notice changes in someone, take the time to check in on them and make sure they are ok.
3. Speaking Up – raising an issue with a workmate, e.g. stopping the job of another work crew who are about to lift a load over someone.
4. Owning It – receiving and acknowledging feedback in a positive way, e.g. being responsive and thanking a workmate when reminded not to enter a drop zone.
