This month, we announced we had been engaged to provide construction services at the Iron Bridge Magnetite Project, an unincorporated joint venture between Fortescue Metals Group subsidiary FMG Iron Bridge and Formosa Steel IB, which is located 145 kilometres south of Port Hedland, in the Pilbara region of WA. Our scope includes structural, mechanical and electrical and instrumentation services at the wet process plant and is already well underway.

At a milestone event held at Iron Bridge on 31 October, attended by senior executives and government officials, including our very own Engineering Construction Head of Projects, Adam Cook, it was announced that since April 2019, more than 12.8 million workhours had culminated in the design and construction of the mine, pipelines, village and infrastructure at Iron Bridge, which was expected to achieve first production in the March 2023 quarter.

Monadelphous Head of Projects, Adam Cook, said it was a fantastic event and that he was proud that our team had been recognised for the part they are playing at Iron Bridge.

“Our people put in a great deal of hard work into delivering quality outcomes and help make these milestones possible for our customers. Today, that was with first ore being fed into the processing plant at Iron Bridge,” he said.

Once complete, Iron Bridge will deliver 22 million tonnes per annum of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate, helping Fortescue to enter the high iron ore grade market segment.
