The Chemical Grade Plant 3 (CGP3) project introduces a third crushing and processing plant located at the Greenbushes facility, 250km South of Perth to boost throughput by 550 tph.
The scope encompasses constructing structural steelwork installation, installing mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment, and integrating essential piping systems.
Lycopodium, the Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management partner, oversees the procurement of structural steel and mechanical components. Meanwhile, Melchor manages ongoing earthworks and civil foundation tasks essential to project success.
Project update:
CGP3 comprises two main components: the Dry and Wet Plants.
The dry plant's civil works are nearing completion. Initial efforts focused on the Screen and Primary Crushing Buildings which to date has included concrete plinth scabbling and structural steel erection.
Structural steel handling involves meticulous sorting by designated facilities, with materials provided by the Client in fabricated flat racks.
Recruitment efforts have been commendable, with most white-collar positions filled and blue-collar personnel being mobilised progressively to meet the project requirements. The workforce is expected to peak at around 280 to 300 onsite, including direct and indirect workers.
The Group Assets team has been instrumental in sourcing internal plant and equipment, aiding the project's setup phase as well as setting the project up for success ensuring the right plant and equipment is mobilised for the execution of scope tasks.
The dry plant compound is established, featuring essential facilities like a Boilermaking workshop dome, office complex, and amenities.
The wet plant setup progresses in stages. The first stage is almost complete and includes office space and amenities. Stage two is planned to commence in March and will include additional facilities such as a training room, cribs, toilet blocks, and storage complexes.
Milestones achieved so far:
Mobilised in late November 2023 with a small crew to kickstart site facilities setup.
Access was granted to the Screen Building Concrete Foundations and its vicinity for Steel Erection, with the inaugural steel delivery gracing the Screen Building job front on 13 January 2024.
The LR1160 Crane (160T Crawler), has been built on-site and sent to the Primary Crusher area for structural steel installation.
