At Inteforge, safety is more than a requirement, it’s a core value that shapes every aspect of work across the business. To reinforce this commitment, Inteforge has partnered with a key supplier to launch a new safety award program at the Vietnam facility.
Project Manager Michael Fitzgerald said that the initiative was developed in response to a simple but important challenge: increasing awareness and compliance around the use of safety glasses.
“We were seeing only a 50/50 success rate in raising awareness so, to really gain worker buy‑in, we needed a fresh approach, and that’s where the incentive idea came in,” he said.
The program recognises workers who demonstrate safe practices during weekly safety walks and audits. During these checks, representatives from both Inteforge and the supplier observe employees on the shop floor and identify those who are working safely – whether through correct PPE use or safe work at heights supported by appropriate fall‑arrest systems.
Awards are presented both on the shop floor and during weekly safety meetings, reinforcing the message that safety begins with each individual. This recognition highlights the vital role every worker plays in protecting themselves and contributing to a safe and productive workplace.
Michael said that the response has been overwhelmingly positive and the awards are driving real results.
“Award recipients have embraced the recognition, and their colleagues often pause to see what’s happening,” he said.
“That curiosity has sparked conversations and encouraged others to lift their own safety practices, creating a ripple effect across the workforce.”
The program has quickly become a catalyst for strengthening safety awareness and personal accountability. Beyond the applause, the awards are shifting mindsets, reshaping how workers perceive risk, and actively reducing exposure to injury.
“Encouraging safety awareness through this reward program, while reducing incidents and injuries, is a win for our subcontractor, Inteforge, and Monadelphous,” Michael said.
What began with a focus on eye protection is now laying the foundation for broader improvements in safety culture and overall performance. If strong results continue, the program is expected to extend beyond 2026, with potential refinements to maintain the momentum.
“Even a small outlay can make a big difference to safety, perceptions, and performance. The return on this investment will be repaid many times over as awareness grows and risk‑control measures continue to improve,” Michael said.
Through this partnership, Inteforge is embedding a more resilient safety culture – one recognition at a time. By celebrating safe behaviours, the program not only protects individuals but also reinforces the values that guide work across every site and project.
