Indigenous Engagement at Monadelphous

Written by Communications | 27 Jun 2022

Earlier this month we recognised Reconciliation Week (27 May – 3 June) with staff from Monadelphous participating in the Walk for Reconciliation in Perth

In line with our ongoing commitment to reconciliation, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) was endorsed by Reconciliation Australia as a Stretch RAP. This is quite significant for Monadelphous and cements our commitment to reconciliation and working with local Indigenous people.

This month the Monadelphous team took a trip to Carnarvon to deliver a Monadelphous information session and recruitment drive for the local Indigenous community. One session was held for local Elders, the TAFE, Job Networks and the Gascoyne Development Commission and another session for any interested people seeking employment with Monadelphous.

Local Content Coordinator at Monadelphous Matt MacFarlane said, “It’s great to see a big turnout for these sessions and it’s nice to be in the region connecting with the locals.”

“It’s important for us to engage with people from across the regions and it’s great to be able to provide these opportunities.”

Across the business we are involved with programs and partnerships with Indigenous groups including Maramara, Wirlu-murra Enterprises and the Monadelphous Regional Business Engagement strategy which sees us engage with Indigenous people in regional areas to come work for Monadelphous.

These engagement and networking opportunities enable Indigenous people to be involved in meaningful employment at Monadelphous.

Next month we’ll be celebrating NAIDOC week, keep an eye out for our next edition to see what else we are getting up to.
