He grew up about half an hour from the city and studied Mechanical Engineering at Technological University Dublin. “Eight years ago, I came to Australia on a backpacker visa and ended up building a life here," Josh said. "Becoming an Australian citizen in May 2025 was a pretty special milestone." That sense of taking opportunities as they come has carried through into his role at Inteforge, where he began works as a Project Engineer on the BHP Jimblebar TLO Replacement Project, and has since been tasked with the project management of the La India Gold Process Plant Piping. “It’s a really dynamic role. I’m working across design, procurement and fabrication, coordinating with a lot of different stakeholders and solving issues as they come up. It definitely keeps you on your toes,” he said. Josh said that what makes the experience particularly rewarding is seeing how quickly ideas turn into something tangible. “You can be looking at a fairly basic model one day, and then over time it develops into a fully detailed design, and eventually something that’s being shipped to site," he said. "That progression is what really sticks with me. It makes all the coordination and effort feel worthwhile.” A highlight of his time so far has been watching the first pre-assembled module head from China to site, seeing how much thought goes into modularisation and how it can simplify work on site. “Seeing something move from a concept to a fully built, ready-to-install structure is pretty impressive," Josh said. Josh said he has also embraced the global nature of Inteforge’s work. “Working with our team in China has been a great learning experience, which has challenged me to be clearer in how I communicate and more aware of how we stay aligned across different locations," he said. Since joining, Josh has focused on building both his technical skills and confidence as an engineer, gaining a much better understanding of drafting, fabrication and how everything ties together. He said that learning how to communicate effectively with different teams and stakeholders has also been really important. “There’s a really strong culture of sharing knowledge here," he said. "My manager, Rhys, has been a huge help from the start, always making time to guide me and push me to think things through myself. That’s made a big difference to how quickly I’ve been able to grow.” For Josh, one of the biggest advantages of working at Inteforge is the exposure he got early on. “You’re involved across the full project lifecycle, from design right through to fabrication and delivery, he said. "That’s something you don’t always get everywhere, and it’s been invaluable for my development. “On top of that, being able to travel and experience working internationally has been a real bonus.” Reflecting on his time so far, his biggest takeaway is simple. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions. It sounds obvious, but it makes a huge difference. Everyone here is willing to help, and that’s how you learn,” he said. For anyone thinking about joining the team, Josh keeps his advice grounded in his own experience. “If you’re willing to get involved, learn and take on challenges, there are lots of opportunities.
