MMW Safety Update - February 2022

1 Minute Read

Well here we are, into the new year, and a very busy one already. As you’ll likely be aware, the new year period historically has been a high-risk time for our people, however we’ve pleasingly many of projects continue to be injury and incident free.

Of special note, the SCM21 Shutdown at Olympic Dam in South Australia has been successfully completed with over half a million hours worked with no recordable injuries or significant incidents. The project overcame numerous challenges, including but not limited to, the everchanging COVID environment, strict travel and isolation requirements. The success of the project and safety performance demonstrates the importance of effective planning and execution, teamwork, communication, recognising and managing change.

Starting Stronger campaigns have continued to be rolled out across projects, with intent to maintain focus and ensure we don’t deviate from the expected standards and the way we work, both now and throughout the project. These campaigns have enabled effective engagement, ideas shared and conversations amongst teams so far.

A reminder to look out for each other, speak up and be present to ensure your own safety and wellbeing, and that of your teammates, remember - “the standard you walk past, is the standard you accept”.

The Safe Way is the Only Way.
