On 18 May, Monadelphous proudly marks a significant milestone as Bevan celebrates 20 years with the business. His career has been shaped by hands‑on trade experience, global opportunities, and a strong commitment to safety and people.
Bevan grew up in Gladstone, Queensland, where he completed his fitter, turner and machinist apprenticeship at QAL, an early foundation he said set him on a career that has taken him well beyond home.
“Most of my working life has largely been in resources and industrial environments,” Bevan said.
“I’ve been lucky enough to work in Canada, the UK and more recently in Mongolia, including building a gas transfer station in Northern British Columbia.”
Bevan said downtime is essential and, outside of work, he values time with family and friends, particularly after extended periods on site.
“You learn pretty quickly how important it is to reset and stay grounded,” he said.
An avid traveller, Bevan has visited more than 20 countries, and while he once played rugby league, these days he prefers watching the game from the sidelines.
Bevan officially joined Monadelphous in 2005, although his connection with the business began earlier. He previously worked alongside Monadelphous as a mechanical fitter at Kundana Gold Mine in 2000 and completed a shutdown in Gladstone in the late 1990s. He continued working as a fitter until 2011, when he made the move into safety by undertaking an HSE traineeship.
The decision was influenced by his time as a health and safety representative at Pluto.
“I saw how safety advisors supported both the workforce and the business, and it really stayed with me. It felt like a natural progression from my trade background,” Bevan said.
Since then, Bevan has worked across more than 10 projects in safety roles, supported by strong site leadership and the Perth‑based HSE team. He said that the culture at Monadelphous stands out.
“I’ve always felt well supported by project managers, construction managers and the HSE team in Perth,” he said.
“There’s a strong sense of teamwork and support. Being trusted to do your job while knowing help is there when you need it makes a big difference.
“It also makes me so proud seeing the company’s safety culture recognised beyond Monadelphous.”
Bevan said that one of his most memorable experiences was working on a project in Mongolia.
“It was challenging but incredibly rewarding,” he said.
“Seeing the local HSE team develop and move on to sought‑after roles was something I was really proud of.”
Reflecting on his time with the company, Bevan said that, while there has been significant growth, its values have remained consistent.
“The family feel has always been there. If you do the right thing, you’re supported and given opportunities,” he said.
“After 20 years, it means a lot to still feel aligned with the business and what it stands for.”
Looking ahead, Bevan remains focused on continuing to learn while supporting the next generation.
Congratulations to Bevan on a career that continues to have a positive impact across our projects and teams.
