Leadership Updates
2 Minute Read

Happy New Year and welcome to 2024 everyone.

I hope you all had the opportunity to take some time off over the festive period to rest, reset and enjoy time with family and friends. A special thanks to those who worked during Christmas; our good safety performance during this period is a credit to your commitment to our safety culture and standards. We worked through the finishing strong starting stronger campaign over the last three months, and we had the Happiness Co visit several HL sites throughout December and January to re-enforce key messages around looking out for your mates, speaking up and talking about the key stresses that can impact us in our work.  I encourage you to read the article about emotional literacy and recognise how you are feeling.

In January, our CC88-1600.1 arrived in Port Hedland, and our new LR1700 completed it’s commissioning and was mobilised out to Christmas Creek to support our engineering construction projects.  5x 10-year major inspections have now been completed and the cranes will all be mobilised by the end of February.  This is a significant milestone for the team after more than 18 months of focussed effort to overhaul our crawlers.

The Pluto 2 team in Karratha has been ramping up with additional resources and equipment to support a busy schedule of module arrivals and installation requirements.

We have now demobilised from the West Gate Tunnel project, marking the end of a very successful project for Monadelphous HL with excellent safety performance, our first bridge infrastructure project and excellent client feedback - well done to the West Gate team!  Read the project wrap in this edition.

We will learn more about some members of the engineering team in this edition and the experience that they bring to our business to support our operations. Kylie Brown, our FMG superintendent provides an insight into her career journey and the opportunities she enjoys in the industry.

We're reinforcing our "hands-off" rigging approach in this edition which has been rolled out across our business. I encourage you to embrace this change and familiarise yourself with the requirements, updated JHA's and risk registers.

We have seen changes to project start dates and hence the re-routing of our assets and people.  This re-direction takes significant effort to secure work and then co-ordinate the planning and mobilisation of the associated resources and our operational team who continue to respond to project requirements. Delivering in a changing environment recognises the teamwork of everyone in HL, continuing to support each other to deliver what we promise and focus on safety.

Until next time, stay safe and continue to evaluate every task to uphold The Safe Way is The Only Way.
