Welcome to the April edition of On the Hook. I hope you all had a good Easter and enjoyed some well-deserved down time.
This month you will read about the Heavy Lift team winning the Chamber of Minerals and Energy (CME), Women In Resources Award for the crane operator traineeship. A fantastic achievement for all involved. I specifically want to congratulate all of our trainees for embracing this opportunity and your commitment to the program and all of our team members who have had a pivotal role in establishing and embedding the program in particular, Marlon Baars, Luke Thompson, Britt Sanger, Joe Wong and Brent Mason. You can also read more about Dakota, one of our awesome trainees in this newsletter.
The month of March and April have been a busy period for shuts at Fortescue – thank you to everyone for the successful execution and a good safety performance. We did have a few incidents over the period but risk management had been put in place and learnings have been identified and communicated. Please continue to ensure you implement your right to stop work at any time and seek guidance from your supervisor if you are not comfortable to proceed.
It was great to sponsor the Cyrenian house charity golf day again this year in conjunction with Fortescue, to support those battling drug and alcohol issues.
Our team have been busy commissioning the CC88.1600-1 Tadano crane in Port Hedland and training is commencing, we also have training about to kick off with the Cometto team arriving in Karratha over the next 2 weeks. We recognise the importance of continuing to grow and develop our team to give them specialist training to deliver into the specialist work opportunities we are securing.
A shout out to team Alevro this month who have achieved some significant milestones at Pluto 2 including the Tower Lift of the Heavies Removal Column, the movement of a 3,500T compressor module from the RoRo vessel to site via SPMT and then the jack down operation of the module using 44 synchronised hydraulic Jacks – the first of its kind for Bechtel! The lead up to these milestones included ensuring specialist equipment delivery from overseas, fabrication of specialist equipment and the bringing together of a blended team capability between Fagioli and Monadelphous Heavy Lift - a significant effort and achievement for all involved. Congratulations to the entire team – collectively you are generating recognition in the market and the right for us to competitively bid for future work like this.
Until next time, stay safe.
Lorna.
