Welcome to the December Edition of On the Hook.

As we reach the end of the year, it is important to take a moment and reflect on everything we have achieved as a team. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your hard work, commitment and contribution that you have made.

We've accomplished a great deal, and while there's much more, here are some key highlights worth noting:

  • Commenced working on our first awarded Alevro Job at Pluto 2, delivering the heavy haulage and lifting scopes and the large crane package involving the Fagioli 1600T crane and our 600T Liebherr.
  • Successfully delivered the West Gate Tunnel project, our first in Victoria and our first bridge infrastructure project with excellent safety performance and client feedback.
  • Growth in our Woodside work scopes including project works for Worley.
  • Continued to successfully deliver multiple shutdowns and fixed plant scopes at Fortescue. The improved safety results across Solomon and Eliwana over the last six months are a direct result of the entire team efforts to implement various improvements driven through in field leadership.
  • Finished work at Iron Bridge (after two years), a significant heavy haulage project and crane package and the first project worked on with Fagioli.
  • Commenced working as an EC integrated team at Kathleen Valley, Christmas Creek, Mount Weld and planning is well underway for Albemarle, CGP3 and CD3.
  • The arrival of three hydraulic cranes and five new crawler cranes with significant investment in and co-ordination of commissioning, training and transport of this new fleet. Multiple team members visited the Tadano factory to benefit from training and relationship building.
  • The purchase of the Tadano 1,600T crawler crane, the largest in our fleet and in Australia.
  • Port Hedland Depot delivering work for TAMS, multiple M&IS projects (locomotive moves, track machines, PPA shutdown, BHP projects) and Austral’s piling project.
  • Completion (or close to!) of five major inspections on our crawler cranes. Perseverance and resilience have shone through to get to this point.
  • Multiple safety initiatives progressed including franna gradient alert (runner up in the EC innovation awards), distraction technology trials, boom bolsters.
  • Team members involved in training and development including Emerging Leaders, Leading @ Monadelphous, mentor programs, specialist training (e.g. P6), female leadership programs, crane operator traineeships.
  • Recruited and mobilised 137 people over the last 12 months. Launched "rewards for referrals" program encouraging you all to refer a mate to join the team, ran digital recruitment campaigns, overseas recruitment campaigns, engaged with Alumni and continued to actively fill our talent pool.
  • Rigging team have continued to respond to growing project requirements, have built tools to streamline the pricing and quoting process.
  • Made significant progress in the Dynamics 365 system implementation, our tendering to claiming platform is due to be implemented by June 2024.  We are at ~70% through User Acceptance Testing.
  • Significant tendering activity (with $148m of work tendered/ quoted/ budget pricing) and 60% conversation rate.
  • Worked on multiple Front End Engineering Design (FEED) studies and early contract/ budget pricing opportunities
  • Continued investigation into electrification of the crane fleet to become more informed regarding potential decarbonisation pathways.

I could not be prouder of all that you have achieved. What is even more pleasing is the way that you go about it. I see a team that consistently supports one another in delivery and safety, taking accountability when things don't go as planned but consistently striving to learn and improve. It's a team that is inclusive, achievement-focused, and actively recognises each other's efforts, as evidenced by Tinny Time recognitions throughout the year. Thank you and well done to each one of you!

This time of the year can create an environment of increased pressures and distraction. I encourage you all to continue to look out for each other and ensure that everyone leaves work safely. You will hear about the finishing strong, starting stronger campaign providing additional focus on some of the key stresses that impact us at Christmas and ensuring that you are continuing to check in on your mates. Remember, at all times The Safe Way is the Only Way.

Our business does not stop for Christmas and there are many of you that will be working through the Christmas period. I thank you for the sacrifices that you are making. Please stay safe and look out for each other during this time.

I hope you will enjoy some well-deserved time off over the festive period and take the opportunity to refresh, reset, and enjoy time with your precious families and friends.

From my family to yours have a safe and Merry Christmas and I look forward to starting fresh in 2024 with you all.

Best Wishes

Lorna
