Welcome to this month’s edition of On the Hook. I want to start by thanking everyone for their ongoing support as we continue to navigate the challenge of living with COVID. By following the measures, we have in place throughout the business you are all helping to keep our teammates and communities healthy and safe.
Safety is our number one priority and there is always room for improvement. Over the past month, we have unfortunately had two serious incidents on site, a Franna roll over and an uncontrolled load shift whilst moving a belt splice platform. Fortunately, no one was injured, but we must work together to learn from these incidents and embed actions to prevent such incidents. I encourage and empower you, at all times, to look out for each other, speak up, to stop the job if you see unsafe acts and escalate issues to your supervisor.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of Monadelphous so over the coming months you will see or be involved with celebrations to mark this important milestone. At the heart of Monadelphous and a huge factor in its success are the amazing people and team spirit and I thank you all for the part you play in this. You will read more in this edition about some of our teammates that have also achieved significant service milestone – congratulations and thank you for your loyalty!
During May, we had several senior Fagioli leaders visit to promote our Joint Venture, Alevro. This is a key strategic initiative to support the growth of our business unit by extending our capability, particularly around alternative lifting, and heavy haulage capability. It was an exciting week with lots of interest from our customers, and we are motivated by the opportunities this will bring for everyone in the Heavy Lift team. We will include a specific segment in next month’s newsletter.
The team working on the Iron Bridge project continue to deliver and pleasingly we have been able to secure contract extensions and project growth which will see the work continue at Iron bridge until the end of the year.
It is National Reconciliation week from 27 May to 3 June, with this year’s theme Be Brave. Make Change, I encourage you to reflect and discuss among your teammates what you will do to tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation. Pleasingly, this week our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 2022-2025 has been officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia and will be launched through a series of activities and events during NAIDOC Week in July 2022.
We have had a very successful year in Heavy Lift with strong growth and a strong work pipeline which is a testament to everyone’s combined hard work and dedication. Thank you for all your hard work throughout the year and your ongoing commitment.
Until next time, stay safe.
Lorna
