Celebrating a decade with Lorna

Ten years ago, Lorna stepped into her first role at Monadelphous with an assigned goal to drive innovation and improve productivity. A decade later, her impact is felt across the company.

Starting as Group Manager for Productivity and Innovation, Lorna hit the ground running in a newly created role.

“The goal was to establish the innovation function and identify and implement opportunities for group-wide productivity improvement,” Lorna explained.

One of her early successes was leading the creation of the remote service centre in Manila, which continues to thrive with up to 120 team members.

She also played a pivotal role in the Partnership in Productivity program with Rio Tinto and was behind the ideas capture platform, MProve.

Over the years, Lorna has taken on various key roles, including General Manager of Business Services and General Manager of Heavy Lift, each bringing new challenges and opportunities.

“I thrive in a changing environment, and Heavy Lift provides just that,” Lorna shared.

“With a large portfolio of clients, varied job sizes, significant capital investment requirements, and a specialist engineering and operations team, it’s a fast-paced environment and it’s rewarding to see the team influence constructability and enhance productivity through innovative logistics and installation solutions.”

Her passion for supporting others drives Lorna.

“I enjoy working with a great group of people, taking on challenges, and succeeding as a team.

There’s huge satisfaction in seeing others develop, flourish, and enjoy their work.”

Growing up in a small Scottish town near Glasgow and Edinburgh, she discovered her love of travel (and hot weather) during European beach holidays. After stints working throughout the UK, Melbourne, and the US, she’s made Perth her home, embracing its outdoor lifestyle with her husband, Anthony and their two children, Eva and Luca.

“I’m a regular 5:30 am riser and am motivated to exercise with a regular fitness group, which keeps my well-being in check,” she said.

“I’m currently preparing for the Rotto swim with an EC Heavy Lift team (the “Heavy Drifters”) after last year’s mid-race cancellation.”

And as if that’s not enough, she’s now in the market for a jet ski!

Reflecting on her time at Monadelphous, Lorna said, “This industry provides diversity of opportunity. It’s purposeful to be part of building the immense infrastructure necessary to process Australia’s valuable resources.”

Lorna has stepped into her next chapter at Monadelphous as EC General Manager – Strategy and Growth.

Congratulations, Lorna, on ten incredible years. Here’s to many more achievements ahead!
