Proving their ability to quickly adapt as a team and deliver great outcomes for our customers, the Heavy Lift team in collaboration with Fagioli, have significantly expanded their scope for NMT Logistics at Fortescue Metals Group’s Iron Bridge Magnetite Project.
What started as a contract for specialist heavy haulage services utilising Self Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT’s) to perform module movements in early 2021 has since grown to include the supply of platform trailers and blocks trucks. This has further expanded into the supply of cranes and crew to support material loading and unloading in site laydown yards, and then most recently has again grown to include the supply of materials crew to support picking and packing of materials for structural, mechanical, piping (SMP) contractors.
“The team has been quick to respond to our customer’s requirements, demonstrating a high level of capability and in doing so growing our relationship with NMT,” said Technical Services Manager, Dave Muirhead.
NMT Chief Executive Officer, Ric Earnshaw credited the team’s strong culture of comradery on site as the clear underpinning of the success NMT, Monadelphous and Fagioli have had on the project to date.
“The technical competence of the team is second to none, the joint experience has meant that each heavy lifting and haulage task is looked at with the end outcome in mind, a lens that ensures efficiency and safety are uniquely considered,” said Ric.
The increasing growth in scope of the Iron Bridge heavy lifting and haulage project has resulted in the project being the largest engineering scope of work the Heavy Lift business has ever undertaken on a single project. The management of the engineering scope was also a unique undertaking for Heavy Lift as it was completed by 3 teams based in Perth, Singapore and Batam, Indonesia.
Like any project, there’s been challenges to overcome including managing resource availability during a global pandemic. Despite the challenges, the team continues to rise to the occasion with performance on all fronts commendable, including good performances in safety, schedule and profitability.
“I’m proud of the team for moving quickly on this project and delivering a great outcome while doing so, the scope expansion came about because of the dedication and strong outcomes we’ve previously delivered,” said Dave.
“The team have worked well together and responded quickly to mobilise on site, so a huge well done to all involved.”
Congratulations team for a great display of teamwork!
