On the Hook

Finishing strong, starting stronger

Written by Communications | 15 Dec 2022

The end of year and new year period is notoriously a high-risk time for our people due to increased temperature,  pressures and distractions that can take our minds off the job, putting everyone’s safety at a heightened risk.

To get on the front foot, we have commenced the Finishing Strong, Starting Stronger campaign across our operations to provide information and resources to assist with key issues that may affect us as we head into the end of year period.

Sessions have been run at Iron Bridge and Solomon so far with a great turnout, strong engagement and positive feedback from all accounts.

HSE Coordinator Joshua Baharthah has been running the sessions along with guest presenters from the Happiness Co.

“It’s been a good turnout so far and the feedback has been positive, with more sessions to be run throughout the Christmas period,” he said.

Each month of the campaign will have a different focus centred around the Tinny Time program pillars including:

  • Helping out – giving a hand to a work mate
  • Checking in – asking a workmate R U Ok?
  • Speaking up – raising an issue with a workmate
  • Owning it – receiving and acknowledging feedback in a positive way

December will contain a focus on mental health and checking in with our mates. With the return to work in January and February, we will focus on helping out and speaking up.

  • Receive training in things such as mental health first aid, dealing with resistive behaviours and positively influencing people.
  • Selecting the best Tinny Time each fortnight/week
  • Participating in drink/icy pole runs

Have a safe and enjoyable festive season.
