From life saver to supervisor

Lindsay Marley has been part of the Monadelphous family for 14 years, starting with us when drinks and pizza in the Applecross office boardroom were held on the last Friday of each month – an oh so fond memory.

“I remember the move from Applecross to Victoria Park and what a big space we were moving into and being part of filling the space with talented and skilled people over the years,” he said.

“It’s been awesome to see our team grow, as well as our plant and capabilities, particularly Heavy Lift over the last five years,” he said.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to have been involved in the majority of regional depots and projects that we have undertaken for both Maintenance and Industrial Services and Engineering Construction over the years. From the east coast of Australia to the west coast, across different industries, including our venture into the aviation industry with Skystar.”

In his current role, Lindsay supervises our heavy haulage operations on site in the Pilbara, however he’s also involved in overseeing our internal transport capabilities.

Away from his Monadelphous family, Lindsay spends most of his time playing golf and fishing, after many years of coaching his four kids in their chosen sports.

“Sport has played a large part in my life, and I really enjoyed seeing my kids get involved in sports and having the opportunity to coach them over the years,” he said.

“Nowadays, I’ve hung up my coaching hat and enjoy getting out for a round of golf or a spot of fishing.”

“I’ve always been relatively active and enjoyed being outdoors since I was a kid.”

“When I was 12 years old, I actually dragged a young boy out of a pool and managed to get help in time to resuscitate him. A couple of years later, I got him back in the water and taught him how to swim.”

“It’s something that I felt was an important lesson and life skill, which I hope has stayed with him for life,” he said.

While Lindsay is still currently in the Pilbara helping deliver on our promises, he’s looking forward to squeezing in some travel and exploring two very different landscapes.

“I’m looking forward to getting some travel in and want to get up to Cape York in Far North Queensland as well as over to Canada – those are next on my travel wish list,” he said.
