Alevro Joint Venture Manager Rod Stribley and Manager of Projects Dave Muirhead, recently travelled to the Fagioli headquarters in Italy for a dynamic week of collaboration, innovation, and pasta.
The visit marked a milestone for both the Australian and Italian teams, bringing together decades of expertise across continents to shape the future of engineering and heavy lifting in Australia.
Throughout the trip, the teams aligned on strategy, shared industry knowledge, and dove into new technologies focused on elevating heavy lift performance and safety across projects.
“The energy, collaboration, and mutual vision that filled the room were a true testament to what we can achieve when we unite engineering excellence with an international perspective,” Rod said.
“It’s not just about the equipment. It’s about building stronger relationships and making innovation tangible.
“Catching up with our Fagioli peers in Italy was fantastic – we had some open, energising conversations and came away with fresh ideas we're excited to explore. And let's be honest, nothing beats face-to-face time.”
The exchange opened new pathways for future joint projects, enhanced technical solutions, and brought a deeper appreciation of the standards and culture each team brings to the table. From design refinements to logistical insights, every conversation during the visit paved the way for smarter, safer, and more agile heavy lift and heavy haulage industry strategies.
“The visit was instrumental in deepening our ties with the Fagioli team and increased our understanding of how we function together,” Dave said.
“This was a fundamental step not only in growing our relationship, however also in leveraging our expertise to push the boundaries of what's possible in our industry.
“From a technical perspective, the trip allowed us to better understand the capabilities, both engineering and equipment, that we can draw on here in Australia,” he said.
A standout moment was their visit to the Mose Gates project where Fagioli has engineered an innovative Gantry Launching System, purpose-built to streamline the installation, maintenance, and ongoing replacement of the Venetian Lagoon gates.
“The Mose Gates are a system of 78 underwater barriers installed across the Venetian Lagoon to protect the city from flooding.,” Dave said.
“This is an exemplary demonstration of what can be achieved by combining innovation, engineering, and operational expertise.”
The synergy between Monadelphous and Fagioli signals an exciting chapter for global collaboration within Alevro. It's a reminder that when we invest in relationships across borders, we amplify our capabilities and unlock new opportunities to deliver excellence – no matter where the project takes us.
