Celebrating Tinny Time

Awards
2 Minute Read

We know positive safety moments are happening every day on our projects, and Tinny Time nominations are not just a formality. They are a crucial way to recognise our people doing the right thing, and your efforts in this are invaluable to our success.

In this edition of Around the Sites, we celebrate some of our divisional winners from the first quarter of this year. It’s great to see people from across our projects doing great things and taking the time to recognise each other by nominating each other for the Tinny Time Award.

January 2024 Winner

Caroline Fleay

From Kemerton expansion project

Caroline is an amazing site cleaner who does an excellent job. Nothing is ever a hassle for Caroline who goes over and above with her cleaning and housekeeping. She is positive and always offers to help others without being asked.

February 2024 Winner

John Crone

From Solomon

John noticed one of his coworkers experiencing a medical episode and promptly helped them to sit down. He then called the supervisors and the ESOs for assistance. John played a crucial role in ensuring that medical care was provided as soon as possible.

March 2024 Winner

Galbadrakg Lkhavagdorj

From Mongolia MHS2

May 2024 Winner

Steven Green

From Chevron Jansz E&I

Steven noticed a teammate using a platform ladder in a non-ergonomic position and took the initiative to have a conversation with the teammate. He also assisted in repositioning the ladder to reduce the risk of injury.

June 2024 Winner

Paul Cleland

From Alevro Pluto Train 2

Paul noticed another operator using the power pack controls to move unladen self-propelled modular trailers into position and asked the operator to stop. He suggested that it is best practice and safer to use the remote control under these circumstances. This allows clearer communication and a better field of view.

Take some Tinny Time and nominate your teammates who you believe should be recognised for their contribution. Advise your supervisor during shift debriefing or re-focus sessions.

Tinny Time moments include things such as:

  1. Helping Out – this includes giving a hand to a workmate, e.g. stopping and assisting a truck as a spotter, which needs to reverse into a tight area.
  1. Checking In – asking a workmate R U OK? If you notice changes in someone, take the time to check in on them and make sure they are ok.
  1. Speaking Up – raising an issue with a workmate, e.g. stopping the job of another work crew who is about to lift a load over someone.
  1. Owning It – receiving and acknowledging feedback in a positive way, e.g. being responsive and thanking a workmate when reminded not to enter a drop zone.
