In a major milestone for our Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) team, Monadelphous has successfully completed the first-ever High Voltage Cable Damped AC (DAC) Test in Australia - a feat that sets a new benchmark for innovation and technical capability in the industry.
After weeks of preparation and collaboration across multiple crews, the team achieved a successful test using the Megger HV DAC 300 Test Equipment for Chevron’s BWI Jansz-Io Compression AGI Project. This involved intricate scaffold modifications and a full setup rehash to enable the rig’s deployment on site.
To put the achievement into perspective: the DAC 300 test reached a peak voltage of 184,000 volts. That’s more than 800 times the voltage of a standard household power point (230 volts). This level of testing is critical for ensuring the integrity and reliability of high voltage cables in demanding environments.
The effort behind this milestone was nothing short of extraordinary. Their commitment and technical expertise were instrumental in making this Australian-first a reality.
It’s fantastic to see the first cable successfully tested and we congratulate everyone involved. This achievement reflects the dedication, collaboration, and problem-solving mindset that defines our teams.
We look forward to continuing this momentum as we work through the remaining high voltage cables, and to sharing more wins like this in the future.
