Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating International Women’s Day across our sites and offices, recognising the inspirational females across our business and reinforcing our commitment to creating inclusive and respectful workplaces.
International Women’s Day has a long history, stemming back to 1908 when 15,000 fearless women marched through the streets of New York, demanding fair pay and voting rights. While our society has come a long way since these times, we know there is still progress to be made to support women in our industries, from accessible entry into trades and leadership positions to ensuring safe and inclusive workplaces for people of all genders, backgrounds and experiences.
In alignment with our Gender Diversity and Inclusion (GD&I) Plan, International Women’s Day is a key event in our Company calendar, acknowledged with a range of activities throughout the week.
In our Perth office, it was standing room only in the lunchroom for our panel discussion, where four employee panellists shared their experiences and advice on inclusion in the workplace. Led by Lewis Dalwood, the team enjoyed thoughtful insights and anecdotes and a few laughs from Abigail McPherson (Divisional HSEQ Manager, M&IS Divisional Services), Elisa Morgillo (Project Engineer, M&IS Mining & Minerals Northwest), Anita Stacey (Pre-Contracts Lead, EC) and Lydia Burnett (Group Manager, Business Services), as they delved into the challenges of the industry, lessons learnt over their careers and what they’d like to see more of moving forward.
On the east coast, the Brisbane office hosted a morning tea with special guest, 4Voices Director and Company Secretary, Helen Winters. The team learnt about the work of 4Voices in supporting women through tough times, fostering connections and creating possibilities. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as she shared the incredible stories of women and their journey with 4Voices and beyond.
This year, we wanted to showcase some of our inspiring women and their careers at Monadelphous. Throughout the week, we shared a series of employee profiles on our social media. To stay up to date with what's happening around the office, follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
In the spirit of giving back, our Leading Ladies group organised a clothes drive for Dress for Success, a charity that empowers women to achieve economic independence. As a Company-wide initiative, we supported this wonderful organisation through sales of our IWD 2024 polo shirt, donating $1,320 to the cause.
