Roughly 8000kms north of Perth, in the south west of Mongolia, we caught up with Otgonjargal to find out a little more about her journey with Monadelphous.
Otgonjargal is a lead quality control engineer, who made a comeback to Monadelphous in 2023 to continue working at our Oyu Tolgoi location on the MHS2 Above Ground project.
Born and raised in Mongolia, she travelled to Russia to complete her Civil Engineering degree from the Irkutsk National Technical University back in 2014.
From there she started working as a state construction inspector before joining Monadelphous for the first time in 2018 as a structural and mechanical piping engineer. One of her first roles at Monos was on the Oyu Tolgoi Copper Mine.
Since developing her skills, her favourite part is still seeing how projects develop and the being there from start to finish.
“It’s satisfying to oversee and be part of a successful project with my fellow work colleagues from the starting point to final completion,” Otgonjargal said.
Otgonjargal also loves the diverse set of people she has met so far, and the endless growth opportunities that can take you anywhere.
“It allows you to continually grow in your profession, meet different people and cultures from numerous parts of the world. Working with expats on projects is also a great way to build on your experience,” she said.
“Gaining experience means there are many opportunities to work anywhere in the world.”
She is also excited about the opportunity to add more positivity and inclusivity to her work environment by mentoring younger engineers and helping them stay on the right track
“The construction industry is very special because it provides a pleasant working and living environment for everyone involved,” she said.
An adventurous soul, she enjoys hiking and travelling the world with her friends and family.
Looking to the future, Otgonjargal has her sights set on learning as much as she can to become a quality manager as a stepping stone towards becoming a construction or project manager.
