Everyone, we can confirm that the 2021-22 financial year finished well, with the Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) business unit beating its target for both safety and financial performance. Pleasingly, we kept a rolling 12-month Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) of zero for the entire year – this is based on our standalone E&I operations, which are predominantly the Gladstone operation, and our E&I works at the Albemarle Lithium Plant in Kemerton. This is a great achievement and does not happen without a lot of effort by a lot of people over an extended period. Well done and a big thank you to all involved. 

We are still waiting to formally announce a couple of recent contract wins – I hope that we can do this soon – and there are other opportunities that we hope to convert to contracts in the near future. The Precontracts team continues to work late nights and weekends, and we expect their effort and commitment will lock in a healthy backlog of work during the coming months.  

There is not a lot of change to report for our existing contracts, all of which continue to perform well.  

Our team at Albemarle is finishing strongly, with plenty of positive feedback from the client. There are projects throughout Western Australia that should keep the E&I team busy until at least the end of the calendar year. Our involvement in Rio Tinto’s Gudai-Darri Project is winding up, but we expect to move the team to another project shortly. Our teams working on shutdowns for BHP and Rio Tinto continue to hit homeruns and deliver great outcomes.  

In the east, our team at Tronox in Broken Hill is managing the local challenges, with the availability of sufficient skilled resources being front and centre. In PNG, the Lihir Island Front-End Recovery Plant is nearing completion and the demobilisation date is likely to be confirmed shortly. Our E&I operation in Gladstone has started the new financial year strongly with a healthy backlog of work and is tendering some larger opportunities – which means more good people will be needed! 

Earlier this month during NAIDOC week (3-10 July), we officially launched our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan 2022-2025 through a series of activities and events. In this newsletter we look at how our Reconciliation Action Plan was launched.
