Powering the future at North Star Junction

Written by Communications | 11 Aug 2026

The successful delivery of our first Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Fortescue's North Star Junction in the Pilbara marked an important milestone for our EC division and a significant step forward into Australia's growing renewable energy sector.

The project brought together expertise from across our teams to deliver critical electrical, communications and construction works, helping reshape how power is generated, stored and used across operations. From installing 48 battery units in just three days to overcoming complex delivery challenges, the project showcased the capability, collaboration and commitment of everyone involved.

Just as importantly, North Star Junction laid the foundation for an ongoing partnership with Fortescue in the renewable energy space. Since completing our first BESS project, we've continued to support Fortescue's decarbonisation journey, building on the knowledge, relationships and momentum established through this landmark project.

Since then, we've gone on to deliver a second BESS project at Eliwana, progress a third at Cloudbreak and secure our very first wind farm build and construct project at Nullagine.

As demand for renewable energy infrastructure continues to grow, North Star Junction stands as a proud example of what's possible when our people come together to deliver innovative solutions and create new opportunities for the future.
