The Energy Leadership Forum in November brought together over 70 site‑based leaders across two sessions at Optus Stadium.
The forums provided a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, share insights, and strengthen leadership capability across the division.
One of the most engaging parts of the day was an interactive session led by Experience Lab, where scenarios on courageous conversations were acted out.
This gave leaders practical examples of what effective leadership looks like in action, and sparked thoughtful discussion. The team acted out scenarios that highlighted both effective and ineffective leadership behaviours, bringing theory to life in a way that was easy to relate to.
What made it especially valuable was the audience participation, in which leaders were invited to step in, challenge the examples, and suggest alternative approaches.
Through these scenarios, our leaders explored how managers can better support their staff, create an environment of respect and consider how small changes in everyday interactions can make a significant difference to our team’s well-being and performance.
The agenda also included project updates, a session on Industrial Relations with Jeremy Brown, and a refresher on Respect in Every Step from John O’Brien.
Emma Gauld facilitated a psychosocial safety discussion, reinforcing how everyday actions contribute to a mentally healthy workplace.
The day concluded with People Sense introducing the Manager Assist Program and other support services available to leaders.
Each forum wrapped up with a sundowner, giving leaders the chance to connect informally and strengthen networks across projects.
Overall, the forums offered a balanced mix of learning, reflection, and collaboration, ensuring leaders are well‑equipped for the year ahead.
