We kicked off Darwin’s Early Career Pathways Program in September 2024, to recruit local talent and help give them a foot in the door to the energy industry.
The Program received more than 400 applications, with 12 trainees (including four from Larrakia Development Corporation) selected for a 12-week program to pursue either Rigging or Scaffolding.
An initiative stemming from our Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan, the Program offers structured pathways for individuals looking to start a career in the energy industry, giving them the essential competencies of basic dogging, basic intermediate rigging and scaffolding, EWP, working at heights, forklift and confined spaces.
The aim of the program is to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have equal access to the rich opportunities offered by the industry.
Feedback from our first group has been very positive, with trainees sharing their highlights from the program - learning new skills, working with the crews on site, meeting new people and the support and knowledge the instructors and supervisors had.
One of the trainees reflected on their experience, “Monadelphous trainers and supervisors have been amazing! Kind, considerate, understanding, helpful & accommodating. Thank you Monadelphous for the wonderful opportunity you have provided us.”
We’re excited to engage with Darwin locals to offer employment opportunities and are preparing for our next round of trainees.
