From Toowoomba to the NT

Originally from Toowoomba in southeast Queensland, John Gscheidle and his partner, Nic decided four years ago it was time for a change, packing up their belongings and making the move with their two boys to Darwin in the Northern Territory.

With a love for outdoor activities of every kind, from four-wheel driving and camping to hunting and fishing, the Northern Territory could offer them the lifestyle they were seeking, as well as great employment opportunities.

When he arrived, he was originally employed by one of our suppliers before joining our team midway through this year as a Project Superintendent. John enjoys keeping busy and is currently managing our dolphin refurbishment project at the port in Gove

“The dolphin refurbishment project is my main focus at the moment and I’m really enjoying how busy it’s keeping me,” John said.

“It’s a really unique scope of work for us here. Our team is made up of a bunch of legends who are getting everything done to a really high standard and, most importantly, safely.

“Between the work opportunities and the great outdoor lifestyle that my family enjoys, moving to Darwin was the best decision ever made for my family.”

Outside of work and day-to-day living, John’s family originates from Stuttgart in Germany, so he is keen, in time, to travel a bit further abroad to learn more about his background.

“I want to get over to Germany and take my family along to see and learn more about my heritage,” he said.

“I think that would be really cool and it’s something I’m looking forward to doing in the next couple of years.”
