Our Industrial Services offering has grown quickly over recent years to become a key part of the Oil and Gas business, continuing to strengthen the value proposition to our customers.
Project Director Peter Davis spearheaded the strategy to expand Industrial Services in-house back in 2019 and believes that success has largely been driven by supporting our operational teams with subject matter experts (SME’s) and supply of high-quality equipment.
Peter said the Monadelphous Oil and Gas team has significantly grown over recent years in response to our customers’ needs, including expanding from almost entirely onshore based work to now supporting multi-disciplinary work across a number of offshore assets.
“Our investment in specialist equipment is in excess of $6 million and, supported by our in-house SME’s we offer technical expertise, efficiencies and cost savings for customers and deliver tangible value,” he said.
“Offshore assets operate in a highly corrosive environment and a large proportion of our work is to maintain the protective and fire-proofing coatings that preserve the steel structures and pipework.
“We also work closely with our customers on solutions – for example equipment SME Chris Heron has been supporting our customers’ research and development of new technologies including remote blasting and inspection robotics, while our coatings SME Graham Smith has been working with clients on new product selection and testing.
“Our role is to support our internal teams and our customers with technical expertise, sourcing the right equipment and materials, as well as implementing training and coaching.
“An additional challenge to conducting this work is gaining access to some extremely hard-to-access places, so our rope access teams, technically supported by Rope Access SME Chris Maguire, have more than doubled over the last two years.
“The very nature of rope access as a high-risk activity means that our diligence with training, competency assessments, equipment inspections and verification must be nothing less than 100%.”
The logistics support team, headed up by Jack Macintyre at our Bibra Lake facility, is also heavily involved in coordination of equipment inspections, transport and replacement materials for planned maintenance and campaign works.
Peter said that, for 2023 and beyond, we anticipate continued growth and demand for specialised equipment and support services is expected to grow.
“Looking at the year ahead we are focused on building up additional capability within the support team, opportunities to supply additional equipment, and continued support of research and development projects with our customers,” he said.
