Monadelphous strives to ensure First Nations people have access to the opportunities offered by the industries in which we operate, including engineering, construction and industrial maintenance services for our mining, energy, and infrastructure customers.

Over the 2023-34 financial year, we exceeded our annual targets for Indigenous spend outlined in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), finishing the year with a spend of $19.6M, exceeding the annual RAP target of $9M and FY23 annual spend of $11.7M.

The Monadelphous Energy business actively seeks to engage First Nations businesses to ensure they benefit from the opportunities the energy sector provides.

Over the last year, we have engaged three new local Karratha businesses which are owned and run by First Nations people – MGM Alliance, Winyama Contracting and Thorny Devil Industries.  Monadelphous has supported these businesses services offering and will continue to support the businesses as they develop and grow their capabilities.

  • MGM Alliance was engaged to provide 15 of their team members to support Monadelphous for work on the Karratha Gas Plant Train 1 September turnaround and Monadelphous is working with the MGM alliance to identify future deployment opportunities.
  • Winyama Contracting has been engaged for hire of electric vehicles, including a minibus to transport our workforce to and from the Karratha Gas Plant.
  • Thorny Devil Industries is providing the Monadelphous team in Karratha with PPE and consumables for their work in the region, both Offshore and Onshore. Through this contract Thorny Devil Industries is increasing stock volumes and their overall service offering, improving the long-term sustainability of the business.

Our vision for reconciliation is strongly underpinned by our company vision, to ensure Monadelphous continues to be a truly great company to work for and with and invest in. As a company we work had to make a positive impact in the communities where we live and work.
The Energy team is proud to support this vision for reconciliation by offering opportunities and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned businesses, and providing opportunities and support to these businesses, through improved business practices.

All three businesses have been identified as reliable suppliers, providing a solution to a business need within the region. We believe these businesses have the potential to develop into long term sustainable businesses and will continue to foster our support to develop and grow our strong working relationships.
