Our onshore team in Darwin recently faced the challenge of rebranding approximately 3,000 items of personal protective equipment (PPE), and saw an opportunity to take a proactive approach and deliver a sustainable solution.
Instead of purchasing brand new PPE and throwing away the existing ones, the team has partnered with local business Helping People Achieve (HPA) to rebrand all the clothing items. The partnership not only reduces waste but gives back to the local community, helping support employment opportunities for people living with disability.
After a series of trials, they successfully rebranded the special PPE, which includes a unique safety feature: loops sewn onto the front that support carrying a PGM, which is of great importance to our employees.
The decision to reuse the PPE instead of buying brand new ones not only saved 3,000 items from landfill, it has also reduced costs for our customer and was a great way to support and connect with a local organisation doing valuable work in the community.
