Earlier this month, our Health, Safety, and Environment Representatives (HSERs) brought their expertise to Safer Together’s HSER Forum in Perth, learning from industry safety leaders including Sue McCarrey and Derrick O’Keefe from NOPSEMA, as well as each other about industry best practice.
This year’s theme was ‘Not safe? Not sure? Speak up!’ with a focus on improving communication and featuring a range of speakers discussing topics from safety leadership and performance to mental health and wellness.
M&IS Energy HSEQ Manager, Emma Gauld said HSERs are vital to the Monadelphous safety culture, they are passionate about the role they do and are key to making our workplaces safer and more comfortable place for everyone. “They are our “eyes and ears” at the frontline supporting our teams to ensure our safety standards are met,” she said.
Ryan Pillar, HSER at Karratha Gas Plant Pluto, said one if his highlights was being able to connect and share thoughts/ideas with leaders that he would not usually have access to.
“Monadelphous was also represented during the panel discussion with HSERs Blake Marino and Ryan Pillar sharing their thoughts on the role of HSER’s and how best we can support them.”
With over 50 attendees from across the Energy sector, this year’s event was a remarkable success. Thank you to everyone who gave their time to represent their peers and continue to drive and maintain our strong safety culture.
