Welcome to the final edition of The Fix for 2024!
As we quickly approach the end of the year, I’d like to take a moment to emphasise that safety remains our top priority, and we want everyone to return home safely each day. Recently, we've seen an increase in safety incidents and injuries across MMNW, which is a trend that we need to address to maintain our high safety standards. Let’s continue to work together, both individually and as teams, to uphold the excellent safety performance we know we can achieve.
In this edition, we highlight the HDPE pipeline installation project in the mining pit at Mt. Whaleback, Newman. This project presented a range of unique challenges, including working in an active mining pit. Read more about our standpipe project here.
In October, we celebrated the cultural diversity of our business unit with a Diwali morning tea. Our Senior Project Engineer, Siv shared the origins and significance of the festival over some delicious, traditional food.
Last month, we joined forces with AREEA (Australian Resources & Energy Employer Association) to deliver their Bright Futures STEM Program. Our Senior Estimator Ben and Project Engineer Elisa visited local primary schools to inspire the next generation to pursue a career in the resources and energy sector.
Finally, we put the spotlight on a few of the familiar faces in MMNW as part of International Men’s Day in November – we hope their stories help spark reflection and conversation around the role men play in our professional and personal lives, as well as reflecting on how we can contribute to creating a more positive and inclusive future for everyone.
Whether you’re taking a well-deserved break or continuing to work through the holiday season, please stay safe, look after one another, and take time to recharge.
To those working over the break, thank you for your dedication—it’s greatly appreciated.
Wishing everyone a fantastic Christmas and New Years and I look forward to what 2025 holds.
