Welcome to the latest edition of The Fix, bringing you some recent highlights from around the Mining and Minerals North West Region.
In November, I served as a panellist at the Rio Tinto WA 2022 Supplier Summit to discuss “Everyday Respect”. This is a highly relevant topic across our industry and it is as important as ever that we have open and transparent discussions about our expectations for acceptable workplace behaviours. The summit was also a good opportunity to hear leaders in the industry provide their perspective and discuss the actions they are taking within their businesses.
This leads into the launch of our new Respectful Behaviours framework, Respect@Monadelphous, which I will bring you more information about over the coming months. At its core, it is about setting a standard for how we treat one another and ensuring that we embed respect and inclusion within our culture. I strongly believe we have a collective responsibility to look after one another and to stand up for others – just as we do when it comes to physical safety. It is up to all of us to ensure everyone feels safe, included and respected when working at Monadelphous.
We also recently finished installing customised Acknowledgement of Country plaques at our regional locations, including Port Hedland, Karratha, Tom Price and Newman. Respecting and observing cultural protocols is a key commitment within our current Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) and is an important step forward in our reconciliation journey. You can read more about this in this newsletter.
In this edition of The Fix, you can also read about the fantastic team effort by our East Pilbara Projects team on the Roy Hill Remote Managed Aquifer Recharged North (RMARN) Project. The team successfully managed a range of complexities within the scope of works, including the Fortescue River Crossing, which highlights the excellent civil capabilities we have within our business. Well done to everyone involved in this project and for helping to build a strong relationship with the customer.
In the last newsletter, you read about the leadership changes taking place at Monadelphous, with Zoran Bebic moving into the Managing Director role and Alastair Reid taking the reins as the new Executive General Manager of Maintenance & Industrial Services. As these changes have now come into effect, you can get to know both Zoran and Alastair a little more and hear directly from them in this edition.
Finally, meet Annika Clarke, part of our East Pilbara Project team working on the RMARN Project. Annika completed her vacation work with us while studying Civil Engineering, prior to joining the team in 2021. It is great to be able to continue to provide career pathways for future engineers and other graduates across our business.
