At the 2022 Maintenance and Industrial Services awards in December, the Cape Lambert Scaffold Team scooped up a well-deserved win in the newest award category – Delivering the Safe Way in Action award.
During a scaffold inspection on site, the team identified a nearby splice station access platform may have allowed access to live conveyors and went back to investigate further. Upon closer inspection, the team identified the access gate to the splice station was unlocked and the platform itself had an open edge, giving direct access to the running conveyor beyond.
After informing their supervisor and barricading the stair access, the team went on to check other splice stations across the site, ensuring there were no further hazards.
The team demonstrated a number of ‘Speak Up’ and ‘Be Mindful’ behaviours, taking initiative and going above and beyond. Their actions earned them recognition both within Monadelphous and from our customer.
The criteria for this inaugural award is based on alignment with our values, the effort involved by the team, the level of HSE impact their action had and any additional recognition earned for it.
Well done to the team involved for taking the initiative and demonstrating our Delivering the Safe Way behaviours.
