At Monadelphous, we are committed to finding opportunities for engaging local suppliers and investing in the local communities in which we work.
Last month we hosted a Regional Business Engagement session in Port Hedland, in collaboration with the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce and Waalitj Hub, to connect with local businesses in the Pilbara.
Teams and leaders from across the business met with local businesses and Senior Elders who represent the Nyamal Peoples Trust, Doris Eaton and Linda Doogiebee-Durdi.
Waalitj business coach Rob Barton presented on the evening and has continued to liaise with members of the Port Hedland Indigenous business community post-event.
The Waalitj Hub provides support services to these businesses to help them in increasing their competitiveness in the wider market, linking them with industry and projects and developing their capability and capacity.
Our partnership with Waalitj gives all local Indigenous businesses that attended support via one-on-one coaching to help them prepare what they need to work with Monadelphous and onboarding processes.
Local Content Coordinator Matt Macfarlane said that this is a unique and innovative partnership that can help to boost local content opportunities in the future.
“Working with Waalitj also gives Indigenous businesses the confidence that Monadelphous is committed to working together successfully,” Matt said.
The event was well attended with representation from 25 local vendors and positive feedback showing that the local business community were genuinely appreciative for the opportunity to meet with our people and learn more.
We look forward to continuing to engage with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous local suppliers in the region and identifying opportunities for working together.
