Better known to many as "Harro", David Harrington’s 15 year journey with Monadelphous has been built on his passion for engineering and problem-solving.

His colleagues describe him as a knowledgeable team player with impeccable attention to detail. Over the years, he has consistently exceeded expectations, tackled challenges with dedication, and showcased a considerate and loyal nature that makes him a pleasure to work with.

From David’s perspective, he said that he has enjoyed so many aspects of the work he has been involved with over the years, but the most memorable part is the people he has worked with.

"I'm fortunate to work with such wonderful people, both within my direct team and the broader Mining and Minerals North West Region business," David said.

"We have an amazing team culture within the business, which creates a great atmosphere and an inspiring place to work."

Starting as a Graduate Engineer in 2009, David has taken on various roles and contributed significantly to the success of multiple projects. From Conveyor and Stacker Upgrades to Fire Recoveries, David's portfolio showcases his diverse skills and leadership capabilities.

"I really enjoyed my first site-based role as a Grad Engineer at Worsley Alumina,” he said.

“Working on an operational alumina refinery was a great opportunity to cut my teeth as an engineer – I learned so much during my time there and felt this really set me up for success moving forward.”

In 2021, David transitioned into the Area Manager role for the Process Improvement Team, and now the Business Improvement Team (BIT), driving invaluable contributions to operations across different areas.

"I really enjoy finding solutions to the challenges presented to the Business Improvement Team and, in doing so, making life a little easier for our teammates across MMNW. I get a great deal of joy and satisfaction hearing someone say that a solution we’ve created has significantly reduced their workload, saving them valuable time compared to their previous way of working," he said.

Outside work, David has been happily married to Anna for six years and has two children, Emily and Oscar. David and Anna love exploring local parks and beaches with their kids and trying new restaurants and bars when time permits.

As for the future, David looks forward to more exciting opportunities to come at Monadelphous.

"In the immediate future, it’s a very exciting time for Monadelphous and, in particular, MMNW as we continue our journey of process improvement and standardisation and gear up for developing and implementing new software applications," he said.

"In the long term, if the last 15 years have taught me anything, it is that things can change very quickly in our business.

“I’m so grateful for all the support and opportunities that Monadelphous has provided me over the years. No doubt there will be many more challenges ahead, and if I continue to work hard, I’m sure new opportunities will arise just as they have in the past."
