The Mining and Minerals North-West Region team in Victoria Park recently lent a hand to those in need, volunteering their time to distribute food and supplies for the Perth Homeless Support Group’s annual Christmas drive.
M&IS Area manager – Business Improvement, David Harrington said the volunteering experience was a great way to give back to the community.
“There were over 220 people who attended the outreach event, all from many different walks of life who have been impacted by homelessness,” he said.
“It goes to show homelessness is something that can affect anyone of any age or background, and we were glad to be able to help, albeit in a small way.
“It was really nice to be able to help those who rely on this service as well as ease the load on the other regular volunteers who are there every week and do such an amazing job.
“The organisation of the event was incredible – the Perth Homeless Support Group do amazing work.”
Our team collected five packing boxes worth of food including tinned fruit and vegetables, biscuits and crackers, puddings and cakes, Christmas lollies and chocolates, condiments and spreads. They also collected clothing donations such as pants and jeans, hats, shorts, t-shirts, towels and shoes.
Thank you to all involved for lending a helping hand.
