Superintendent, Joe Brown recently celebrated his 15 year milestone with us. We had a chat with Joe and asked him about his time at Monadelphous, the highlights and experiences he has had along the way.
Originally from New Zealand, Joe made the trip over to Western Australia in 1985. He first got his start in the industry as a rigger, before gaining experience in steel fabrication, on offshore oil and gas facilities and even overseas in Southeast Asia. He joined Monadelphous in 2008.
Joe started his journey with us working for our Engineering Construction division on upgrades at Cape Lambert. Since then, he has worked at various sites across the Pilbara and is now a crucial part of our Port Hedland team as a superintendent.
Reflecting on the last fifteen years with our business, Joe has really enjoyed his time, particularly with the Cape Lambert Karratha team, where he spent most of his Monadelphous career.
“Monos has good people. That has never changed, it was the same when I started. Sometimes I cross paths with people who I worked with in the early days, we are all in different areas now, but it's nice to catch up when we get the chance.”
Joe joined our Port Hedland team in 2019 and has enjoyed being part of their continued success and working with the team on many different projects.
“It’s been good to see the team grow and grow. Our work at the start, on the ore cars, was the catalyst. From there, we've expanded our capability to work on a variety of different areas from car dumpers to marine works - it’s been really good to be a part of it.”
As a superintendent, Joe leads by example and shares with us what he thinks helps people succeed in the industry.
“Attitude is everything. If you apply yourself and work hard, you can get what you want. In saying that, I do think luck plays a role too – sometimes it’s about being in the right place, at the right time,” Joe finishes.
Outside of work, Joe is a real family man and enjoys catching up with his loved ones, particularly spending quality time with his four grandkids.
Congratulations Joe on a great fifteen years – Monos is lucky to have you!
