Celebrating our people and the good work they do is a key part of our culture here at Monos. To help acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond from our team, we have our MMNW Safety Champion and Northern Star Achievement awards.
Blaster Painter, Stormy Williams – Port & East Pilbara Operations
Stormy demonstrated excellent safety leadership by ‘Being Mindful’ to identify a colleague in need of immediate support. During recent works, one of our people became stuck in an EWP at height when a mechanical failure caused the basket to tilt forward.
Both the operator and spotter were unable to use the basket or ground controls, which were unresponsive to levelling the basket’s position. Identifying the potential of further failure, Stormy quickly ‘Got Involved’ by souring fall injury prevention equipment, safely accessing the adjacent structure above the EWP basket to create and anchor a safety system which was lowered down to the employee. The involved employee then clicked onto the system before disconnecting from the EWP to mitigate the risk of injury should the EWP move in an uncontrolled manner.
Stormy, along with the spotter, then ‘Spoke Up’ to organise the safe removal of the employee with a basket-to-basket rescue.
This is a great example of mates looking after mates and our safe way behaviours. Well done Stormy!

Graduate Project Engineer, Annika Clarke – Port & East Pilbara Operations
An essential part of our project team since she commenced with us in 2021, Annika has received three very well-deserved nominations.
Annika is one of the most reliable team members onsite, consistently delivering what’s expected and always delivering on what she promises.
Annika ensures all plant, equipment and internal assets are returned safely for the project she is working on. One of the excavator buckets for the project was missing and had not been returned since the project was demobilised in April.
Annika made the effort to travel to site and searched across an 18-kilometer work area to find the excavator bucket in a laydown area. She then organised to have the asset returned to the Newman branch the next day.
Annika goes the extra mile to ensure the smooth delivery of the projects she is working on. All while maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to take on more responsibility.
Congratulations Annika, you thoroughly deserve this award.
