Jarrod started out in the industry in 2001 as an Electronics Technician, working across lab and field-based roles, gaining experience in industrial and process control systems, LV and HV testing, power systems and field testing and measurement.
He joined HES in 2015 as the Asset/Calibration Manager and over the last decade has built the calibration lab and continued to grow the equipment calibration service offering at HES.
For the non-technical types, calibration is the process of comparing a measuring instrument against a known, higher-accuracy standard to ensure it provides accurate, consistent, and traceable measurements. This process is essential to ensure all test equipment is accurate, consistent and safe, and comparing against known standards prevents faulty products, equipment failures and can identify safety hazards.
“I enjoy the technical aspect of the role and ensuring the lab runs smoothly and accurately,” Jarrod said.
“We’re always looking to utilise the latest testing standards and equipment, so we are always challenged with creating new testing and calibration processes and designing next test methods.”
Outside of work, Jarrod enjoys watching movies and playing squash, as well as spending time with his family.
As Monadelphous continues to branch out into the HV space, Jarrod shared some advice for anyone looking to get into the industry,
“Be willing to learn, listen and take advice from others. There is always something new to learn.”
Congratulations on 10 years at HES Jarrod, we look forward to many more!
