The Fix

Teamwork prevails at Tom Price

An outstanding collaboration between our Mining and Minerals North West Region Tom Price Projects Team and our Heavy Lift and RTW teams enabled us to complete the fabrication and installation of conveyor belt change out stations at Tom Price in just five months.

This included four belt flaking / turning structures over CV2104 at Western Turner operations, used for flaking during conveyor belt changeouts. As these belts can be multiple kilometres in length, they needed to be spliced ahead of the shutdown to reduce downtime during replacement.

Project Manager Daniel Hawke said that the works at Tom Price were completed while fully online, meaning there was no need for a shutdown and there were no interruptions to the customer’s productivity on site.

“It was a team effort across the board, and it allowed us to complete this project within five months without incident,” he said.

“The Monadelphous Heavy Lift team provided us with the cranes, as well as the operator and rigging equipment so the project team could complete the installation on time.”

The collaboration between teams ensured the smooth completion of the project within budget, despite some challenges over the holiday period.

“The project ran over Easter where restrictions on oversize loads came into play, however the teams adapted and re-sequenced works to keep the crews productive and on track which was a fantastic job by all involved,” Daniel said.

Well done to the teams for a great display of teamwork to deliver this outcome for the customer.
