We caught up with the dynamic duo of brothers Brad and Steve Murray, who are on the cusp of celebrating a decade of service each with Monadelphous. What makes their milestones even more extraordinary is that their anniversaries are just seven days apart.
Their Monadelphous journey started at the Kalgoorlie branch, where they embarked on a fresh chapter in their professional lives, all thanks to a warm invitation from Brad’s former supervisor, Tom.
"Brad and I were both looking for a new opportunity so when Tom offered us roles in scaffolding, we didn't hesitate," Steve said.
“Our transition to Monadelphous was refreshing, being welcomed into a large engineering company that treated its people like a small business would.
“Whatever your role or level, you felt your voice mattered, and you had a place.”
Steve began with a scaffold ticket but soon ascended the ranks, ultimately becoming supervisor. On the other hand, Brad shifted gears after years as a leading hand in the scaffold division and ventured into the newly established civils team, where he honed his skills for around three years.
Life then took a unique course for Steve in 2018 when he bid a heartfelt farewell to his cherished Kalgoorlie team and moved to Perth.
"I joined the structural integrity team in Perth in 2018," Steve said.
"Less than a year later, Brad and his family decided to move to their Dawesville property, and I was lucky enough to be in a position to help him transfer to the project I was on."
Fast forward to today, and both brothers proudly serve as civils and piping supervisors with the East Pilbara team and have embraced diverse roles and challenges with open arms.
When asked about their unwavering loyalty to Monadelphous, Steve and Brad tipped their hats to the extraordinary individuals they've encountered within the company.
"Brad and I have stayed here for as long as we have because of the people we have met, many who have helped to coach, support and further develop us both in all roles we have held within Monadelphous," he said.
Working side by side with a sibling can be a unique challenge, but it's been a source of strength for Steve and Brad.
"Working with family can have its challenges, but Brad and I have been close all our adult lives," Steve said.
"Although Brad and I don't always work together on the same projects, we have always relied on each other's opinions and advice with challenges we have faced with our work. We've always pushed and helped each other to succeed."
As for what the future holds, Steve and Brad remain content in their current roles but remain open to any challenges that Monadelphous might place in their path. Here's to another decade of remarkable achievements!
