Our Heavy Lift team has recently completed almost 25,000 hours of work injury free across a number of shutdown campaigns for Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) in the Pilbara, including the delivery of four screen change outs, one gyro crusher overhaul, one apron feeder overhaul, seven conveyor belt changeouts and two cone crusher overhauls.
Our team supplied all the specialised lifting equipment to safely remove and install new screens, gyro and apron feeder components, conveyor belts and cone crushers, alongside supporting contractors. The critical lifts our team safely completed ranged in total weight from 30 tonnes to 87 tonnes.
These works were part of several critical shutdown campaigns to enable our customer’s operations to achieve maximum operation run time between shutdowns.
Heavy Lift Superintendent, Brent Mason, congratulated the team on an excellent job, with much of the critical path works completed ahead of schedule.
“Our team on site worked closely with our customer to find efficiencies on the job front in real time during the project, which resulted in the team finishing ahead of schedule,” he said.
“We worked with the customer to reduce the amount of crane relocations required, which also minimised the safety hazards our teams would have been exposed to, and created efficiency on each shut,” he said.
The shutdowns weren’t without its challenges, however the team worked well together to overcome these.
