Claire Kelley-Gardiner, Boilermaker M&IS
“Being told I couldn’t become what I wanted at a young age just made me more motivated to strive and succeed.”
Ever since Claire discovered her passion for metalwork in school, she knew that it was the career path she wanted to pursue.
In 2018, Claire began her apprenticeship as a boilermaker with Rick Tucker Welding (RTW), and as luck would have it, Monadelphous acquired the company just over a year before she was due to complete her apprenticeship. This turned out to be a fortuitous turn of events for Claire, as Monadelphous offered her the opportunity to work FIFO to enhance her skills and experience.
Upon finishing her apprenticeship in early 2022, Claire wasted no time in heading to Cape Lambert, where she was exposed to a whole new world of trade. Since then, Claire has grown both on and off the tools, and has even been offered the chance to take on a leading hand role on multiple occasions.
In the lead up to this year’s International Women’s Day, we are celebrating some of our team members who help create an inclusive workplace.
