Recognition for our teams

On the recent IPL Phosphate Hill shutdown, our paint and blast team were rewarded for their safe work practices and commitment to zero harm.

The team went above and beyond to ensure that there was no escape of blasting grit by building their sandblasting encapsulation for garnet blasting the gas cooler.

By doing this they were able to complete surface coating in the same day without incident.

According to HSE Advisor – IPL Shutdown, Allen Bruce, the team went the extra mile together to ensure this task was complete in one day.

“The team worked back to ensure the cooler was coated during daylight hours so the surface finish was not affected by the dew point of the incoming night,” he said.

Well done to the crew involved. This is just one of our many successes during this shutdown.

Meanwhile, at APA, Sandra Burchill was recognised by the operational team for her quick thinking and outstanding first aid response to a leg gash situation.

Sandra assisted the injured individual by applying a spare clean mask over the wound before taping it in place and then carefully guiding them down four flights of stairs.

She also successfully took part in a confined space spot audit from the customer, where she clearly demonstrated her expertise.

HSE Officer Brianna Deer said the client was thoroughly impressed with Sandra’s understanding and error free documentation.

“Sandra deserves the recognition for her outstanding ability to respond quickly when needed as well as for her depth of knowledge,” she said.

Well done to all our teams for your hard work on recent shutdowns – it is great to see our people being recognised by our customers.
