Some of our Monadelphous teams in Karratha recently donned their gardening gloves and came together to volunteer for the City of Karratha, alongside students from the STARS Foundation. The volunteers got to work planting and weeding as part of the Foreshore Rehabilitation Program.
The program’s objective is to protect and enhance the environmental, cultural, recreational and resource functions of the local foreshores. With our volunteer’s help, initial stages of the Point Samson Foreshore Restoration Project have now been completed including the removal of invasive tamarisk, weed matting installed and planting of native species.
As well as volunteering, we also contributed funds to support ongoing clean-ups, weed control and the planting of species and native plants.
Site Manager Dennis Earle said that it was a good opportunity for the teams to get hands-on involvement with the valuable initiative.
“It was great to be able to support the rehabilitation efforts at Point Samson, bringing our teams together to contribute to our local community and environment,” he said.
“Thank you to all who came along and helped out on the day.”
