Monadelphous has recently locked in a five-year labour services contract with Newmont at Tanami.
The contract is another highlight in the strong partnership the team has built over the past seven years in the region.
“Being awarded a five-year contract rather than Newmont exercising one-year extensions in the current contractual climate is a great indicator that we have built a team that is excelling in offering reliable, safe, solid maintenance services that Newmont want to have around for years to come,” Project Manager Lance Duda said.
“I feel great pride every time I get to visit the team onsite and see the inclusive culture built between Newmont and Monadelphous”
The Monadelphous team has been on the ground at Tanami since 2018, kicking off with asset integrity and tank refurbishment. Since then, the team has grown steadily, taking on extra shutdowns every four months and diving into new project work, including the structural, mechanical, and piping installation of the Tanami Underground Expansion (TE2) project.
Our crews tackle everything from fabrication, concrete remediation, scaffolding, UHP water jetting, and specialist tank coatings to hydro demolition, underground vent fan cleaning, and emergency underground pipe unblocking.
The asset integrity core crew has grown from roughly 10 to 27 people over the years at the mine and mill processing plant, while standalone projects and shutdown labour can see total numbers onsite peak at around 40-45 at any one time.
This success is a true team effort. Everyone on site, from boilermakers, painters, civils to scaffolders and supervisors, has played a part in building the reputation that helped secure this contract.
“What excites me most about the next five years in seeing our personnel onsite grow their skill base and being rewarded by progressing their careers,” Lance said.
With a five-year contract now locked in, the Tanami team is ready to keep proving what Monadelphous can do, and maybe even set a few more records along the way!
